What MathMux collects, why, and for how long. Last updated 14 September 2026.

Who we are

MathMux is an online educational service: courses, lessons, practice questions and mock exams. This notice covers the MathMux website (mathmux.com). Because our students are often under 18, we have written it to be read by students and parents alike.

What we collect when you visit

When you read a page on MathMux, our own server records the page, the time, and a few facts about your browser so that we can see which pages are used and keep the site working. Specifically:

If you are not signed in, you are counted with a code that changes every day and is not stored on your device — there is no cookie and nothing in your browser's storage. We cannot recognise you again tomorrow, and we do not try to.

No third party receives any of this. There is no analytics company, advertising network or tracking script on MathMux. Everything above is processed on our own server and used only to run and improve the site — never for advertising, and never to build a profile to sell or share.

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we count your visit in the day's total and record nothing else.

What we collect when you have an account

When you sign up we hold your name, email address and password (stored hashed), and the learning record you create — lessons opened, questions answered, marks, progress, notes. When you are signed in, the pages you read on this site are attached to your account, so that your teachers and the people who run MathMux can see how you are learning: which lessons you read before a practice set, where you got stuck, and what to help with. This is the educational purpose we collect it for, and the only one.

When you sign in, the sign-in itself records your internet address and browser, so that we can detect an account being shared or used from somewhere unexpected and protect it. That record belongs to the sign-in, not to the page history above.
